Yay for West Elm!

It's here! The much awaited West Elm Essex bench is in place and already occupied by Belly the Ragdoll. The bench was extremely well packaged and arrived in excellent condition. Most importantly, it looks fabulous - big thanks to everyone who voted!

P.S. Sometimes you just have to laugh and shake your head. After travelling from the US, via Hong Kong, and finally to South Australia, the little bench didn't make it the last 20kms out to the farm. Apparently the local delivery subcontractor doesn't deliver to farms, so Farmer Joe had to make a quick dash into town to collect it from the truck depot!

  1. Great choice, love it! You always know you've picked a winner when the cat takes up residence on it.

  8. Love that bench- and your kitty! Looks EXACTLY like my cat, Sonia. My mom says she's not a ragdoll b/c she moody but I swear they could be twins.

  9. It looks amazing! And yes I know all about contractors not delivering to farms!!! I often have to drive in to town to pick up boxes and boxes of stock with the poor boys jammed in amongst them too.

  12. Oh it's fabulous. Absolutely amazed they would ship to Australia - do you mind me asking how much was shipping?

    1. Hi Mel! West Elm are offering 50% off international shipping now, which is the only reason this was affordable. The shipping was around $200, which brought the total cost for the bench (delivered) to approx $480. This was less than the Australian pieces I was considering, which is why I went ahead.

  15. hi! the west elm bench looks amazing and i'm now considering getting one too! would you think its heavy and sturdy enough to use as extra seating for a living room? tia!

    1. Hi! In my opinion, the seat would easily take the weight of a normal adult, however I wouldn't like to see more than one person trying to sit on it at a time.
